Internet Security for Online Banking

Dear customers of Bank of China Online Banking: Bank of China is dedicated to providing you with quality and safe online banking services. In order to enhance the safety of your funds and the reliability of online transactions, the following points should be noticed when using the online banking of Bank of China:

Log on by correct address

Please directly input the website address of Bank of China (Thai) Public Company Limited: http://www.bankofchina.co.th

You will see the correct welcome message you have reserved and recent logon record after logging on to the authentic online banking.

Pay attention to the authenticity of the website; call the customer service hotline for any question.

Keep your user ID and password in safety

Bank of China will never ask for your password. Do not tell other people your password (including employees of Bank of China and polices), be on guard against swindle for your user ID (logon card number) and password since lawbreakers may defraud of your card number, user ID and password via E-mail, letters, phone or SMS. Please call the customer service hotline of Bank of China for any question.

Do not use easy-to-guess numeral or alphabetical combination, such as your birth date, phone number, and plate number and so on as password. You are recommended to use a password composed of figures and letters (capital and lower-case), which is hard to be decoded.

Do not access to other online services (such as internet connection or E-mail) with the same password.

It is recommended to change your logon password of online banking regularly.

Do not write down your user ID and password on any paper or card; do not tell other people your user ID and password nor take suggestions from strangers when using online banking.

Do not disclose your personal information (such as data of identity document or passport, address or bank account) to any unidentified or suspicious website.

Please keep your E-Token and other certification tools in safety, and handle loss reporting and replacement in the Branch in case of loss.

Notes of online banking operation

Do not use online banking in public places (such as internet bar or public library) in case public computers are installed with malicious monitoring program or someone is peeping.

Check the conformity of "Logon record" on the welcome page to actual logon status to spot any abnormal condition in time. And avoid being confused or deceived by fraud E-mails or website.

Make sure you log on to the authentic online banking of Bank of China. You may check the data of digital certificate by double clicking the small lock or key mark on bottom right corner of the webpage, or check the validity of BOC certificate by choosing "Tools >> Options >> Content >> Certificates" in your IE menu.

If you log on by the address stored in the Favorites folder of the explorer, you are recommended to check the correctness of the address stored in the Favorites folder before logging on to the online banking.

Several method to identify fraud website: fraud E-mails or websites (such as via hyperlink contained in a fraud E-mail) always try to make the E-mail or website look real by various approaches, including (i) applying the images from real website; (ii)re-linking customers to the real website and stealing the personal data of customers while they are linked to the real website; (iii)using realm names that are similar to the realm name of a bank or might be mistaken for realm name of a bank.

Make sure you click the "Log out" button on the top right corner of the page and close the explorer after using online banking.

Do not leave your computer unattended before logging out the online banking.

Set a password for your computer to prevent other people from stealing your data.

Please dial the customer service line of Bank of China for any difficulty or abnormality.

Protect your computer

Set up a firewall to prevent unauthorized access to your computer by other people, especially when your computer is connected through broadband or a modem.

You are recommended to download the latest operation system and safety program or patch to explorer regularly.

Install and update personal firewall and antivirus software to prevent virus and malicious intruding.

Make sure you clear the history of explorer after each operation, especially on public computers, to erase all account information once stored in the computer.

Do not check E-mails from unknown source, do not log on to online banking via any link contained in an E-mail.

Make sure your Microsoft Internet Explorer is the latest version or use other explorers that support 128 bit encryption technique. For Internet Explorer, it is recommended to disable "Auto complete" function in case it stores card number and password automatically.

  1. Activate Internet Explorer, and click "Tool" >> "Internet options" >> "Contents".
  2. Click "Auto complete" under "Personal information".
  3. Uncheck the "User ID and password of forms" and click "Clear password".

Pursuant to national regulations and regulatory requirements, Bank of China will regularly check the applicability of this security instruction and update the security instruction according to the development of businesses and technologies from time to time. Bank of China may not inform customers of each update. You are recommended to keep the instruction in mind to raise safety awareness
